Lionel Messi’s Car Collection: The Cars Linked to Argentina’s World Cup Icon
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup now taking place across Canada, Mexico and the United States, Lionel Messi is once again one of the biggest names in world football. FIFA has described the 2026 tournament as the biggest edition yet, with 48 teams competing across 104 matches, giving fans even more chances to watch the world’s best players on the biggest stage (FIFA, 2026).
Messi’s football legacy hardly needs explaining. World Cup winner, multiple Ballon d’Or winner and one of the most recognisable sportspeople on the planet, the Argentina star has spent years at the very top of the game. Naturally, that level of success has also led to plenty of interest in what he drives away from the pitch.
Celebrity car collections can be difficult to fully confirm, and Messi’s is no different. Some cars have been officially linked to him through brand partnerships, while others have been widely reported by motoring and football outlets. So, rather than pretending every rumour is fact, here is a look at some of the most talked-about cars connected to Lionel Messi.
Audi RS 6 Avant Performance
One of the more solidly reported cars linked to Messi is the Audi RS 6 Avant Performance. During his time at Barcelona, the club had a partnership with Audi, and an official Audi Netherlands article listed Lionel Messi with an Audi RS 6 Avant Performance in Sepang Blue (Audi, 2017).
It is a very Messi sort of choice, really. Fast, premium and seriously capable, but not quite as shouty as a full-blown supercar. The RS 6 has always had that perfect mix of family car practicality and ridiculous performance, which makes it one of the most respected performance estates around.

Audi Q7 and Audi A7
Messi has also been widely linked with other Audi models, including the Audi Q7 and Audi A7. That makes sense when you consider Audi’s long-running relationship with Barcelona during Messi’s years at the club.
The Q7 brings the big luxury SUV side of things, while the A7 gives more of a sleek executive feel. Compared with some of the supercars on this list, these are the more “everyday luxury” options, although they are still a long way from ordinary.

Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale
The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale is another car often included in Messi’s reported collection. It is exactly the kind of car you would expect to see connected to a football legend: elegant, powerful and dramatic without being completely over the top.
With its Italian styling and V8 soundtrack, the GranTurismo has always been more about theatre than chasing the fastest lap time. For someone like Messi, it fits the image perfectly: classy, quick and just a little bit special.

Ferrari F430 Spider
Messi has also been linked with a Ferrari F430 Spider, one of the most desirable open-top Ferraris of its era. The F430 arrived with a naturally aspirated V8, sharp styling and that proper old-school Ferrari character that collectors still love.
It is not the newest or most extreme Ferrari out there, but that is part of the appeal. It represents a time when supercars still felt raw, loud and mechanical, which makes it a very cool addition to any garage.

Range Rover Models
Away from the supercar side, Messi has often been linked with Range Rover models, including the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Vogue. That is not exactly surprising either. Range Rovers have been a favourite with footballers for years because they combine comfort, road presence and everyday usability.
For a global superstar with a family, a Range Rover makes a lot of sense. It is luxurious, comfortable and practical, while still carrying that premium feel you would expect from one of the world’s most successful athletes.
Cadillac Escalade
The Cadillac Escalade is another big luxury SUV regularly mentioned in reports about Messi’s cars. It is bold, spacious and very American, which makes it especially fitting now Messi plays club football in the United States with Inter Miami.
It is not subtle, but then again, the Escalade has never tried to be. It is built for comfort, space and presence, which makes it a natural choice for high-profile athletes and celebrities.

Lexus RX 450h
Not every car linked to Messi is a full-blown supercar or giant luxury SUV. The Lexus RX 450h has also appeared in reported lists of his collection, giving the garage a slightly more sensible side.
The RX 450h is a premium hybrid SUV, offering comfort, reliability and better efficiency than many traditional luxury SUVs. It might not be the most exciting car in the world, but it shows that even football icons need something relaxed and easy to live with.

Mini Cooper
One of the more unexpected cars linked to Messi is the Mini Cooper. Compared with the Ferraris, Maseratis and Range Rovers, it almost feels funny to see a Mini mentioned in the same breath.
But that is what makes it interesting. A Mini Cooper brings character, charm and simplicity. In a collection full of luxury and performance, it adds something completely different.

The Rumoured Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti
This is the car that gets the headlines, but it also needs the biggest pinch of salt.
Many online articles claim Messi owns a 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti, a car that sold at auction in 2016 for around $35.7 million. Sports Car Digest reported the auction sale and confirmed the car set a major auction record at the time, but the buyer was not publicly confirmed in that report (Sports Car Digest, 2016).
Because of that, it is safer to treat this one as a rumour rather than a confirmed part of Messi’s collection. It makes for a great headline, but unless the ownership is properly verified, it should not be presented as definite fact.

A Collection That Matches the Man
What makes Messi’s reported car collection interesting is that it does not feel like one long list of attention-seeking hypercars. Yes, there are Ferraris and Maseratis in the conversation, but there are also practical performance cars, luxury SUVs and even more modest choices like the Mini Cooper.
That balance actually fits Messi’s public image quite well. He has spent his career doing extraordinary things, but often with a calmness that makes it all look effortless. His reported garage has a similar feel: expensive, impressive and full of quality, but not always screaming for attention.
As the 2026 World Cup puts Messi back at the centre of the football world, interest in his life away from the pitch will only grow. Whether it is his performances for Argentina, his legacy in the sport or the cars linked to his name, one thing is clear: Lionel Messi still knows how to get people talking.
