Kia's EV9 has claimed the spotlight at the prestigious World Car Awards 2024, securing not one but two significant accolades.
This remarkable electric vehicle took home both the sought-after titles of World Electric Vehicle of the Year and World Car of the Year.
A comprehensive panel consisting of 100 automotive journalists hailing from 29 different nations deliberated to award these honors. They collectively appreciated the Kia EV9 for its spacious cabin, modern design, and value for money—an attractive package that sets it apart in the market.
Since its launch the previous year, the acclaim for the EV9 has been consistent, as evidenced by the string of accolades it has received, such as the 'Family Car of the Year' from the 2023 TopGear.com Awards, ‘Best Premium Electric Car’ at the DrivingElectric Awards 2024, and the prestigious title of ‘UK Car of the Year 2024,’ awarded by a distinguished panel of automotive, business, and technology journalists based in the UK.
In the competitive UK market, the EV9 is offered with customizability at its heart, providing options of six or seven seats, three different levels of finishes, and two engine layouts — either RWD or the AWD variant. The flagship UK model is powered by a robust 149.5 kW motor mounted on the rear axle for RWD configurations, whereas the AWD option features two powerful 141kW motors provided for both axles.
